It was driven by a guy who looked to be in his late sixties. I’m guessing he brought it out to have a sweet Valentine’s ride.
On a related note, I’ve noticed that there’s a direct correlation between how old you are and how old you are and how old you want the drivers of cars you can’t afford to be. People like complaining about old guys in expensive cars, but, man, as I get older, the last thing I ever want to see is someone my age or younger in a car that costs as much as my house.

That’s definitely a previous gen Ford GT. The only replicas are for original GT40s.
Unless you mean replica as in trim, like a normal GT with replica Heritage livery?

I’ve never understood why it’s so wrong for old guys to have cool cars. It just makes sense, they don’t have a house full of kids anymore and can treat themselves. What’s terrible about that?

Oh that reminds me!
I saw this last week. Not a replica, not a modern interpretation. I think.

The people who usually complain about it usually say stuff like “it’s a shame only 60 year olds can afford a Corvette, because someone young like me would actually use it.”
I never really thought that way, but the older I get, the less I want to see younger people in super expensive cars.

I kind of wondered if it was a replica, just because I’ve never actually seen someone cruising down the street in any GT. I did wonder whether the Gulf livery was original or custom.
Either way, daaaaamn

I’ve heard that line of thought and it’s just so much bull. Who does it hurt that an old guy has a Corvette but enjoys owning it more than driving it? Does it mean that some young person was denied a Corvette? No, i t means that there will be a pampered, low mile Corvette on the market eventually that some younger person can now afford.
When I see a young person in a super expensive car all I can think is that it’s a spoiled rich kid spending their parents’ money and more likely than not will soon crash.

One of the best replicas is Superformance GT40s. They are actually classified as “Continuation C ars” since their chassis are still being produced by the original manufacturer, Holman Moody.
They are the only “replica” allowed in the Historic Racing series and the only cars currently produced to be legally called GT40. They are also allowed to be register in both the GT40 and Shelby registry .

I like cars but I can’t make a business case for buying an expensive car. So I drive a 13 year old Mazda.

I think they genuinely think that old people with old people disposable income drive up the prices of already bargain priced for performance sports cars .
When I was in college, there was a guy in my dorm my friends and I used to call “red Porsche douche.” He frequently tried to creep on every girl in our building by offering to give them rides places .
One day in the spring, I was sitting outside while his mom was explaining to him that he spent too much money and that they couldn’t afford his tuition for next year. I never saw him again.

I think the most I could ever justify would be a new base 911, but I’m sure by the time I can actually justify it, that’ll be out of range

What's in the background? It sort of looks like a 308.

I am moving towards an early 70’s Datsun z and a normal car. I think that is a good compromise.

Oh, hell, yes.
I’ve already told my girlfriend that were soonishly going to be owning a shitty Disco. I’d rather buy cheap-ish and then spend all my money on maintenance.
